Sound Education and Action [SEA] Kayaker Educator Spend the summer of 2005 kayaking and camping in Puget Sound educating paddlers about Leave No Trace principles and ethics Job Location: Seattle, WA with travel throughout Puget Sound Job Type: Work Friday AM to Monday PM Start Date: June 10, 2005 End Date: August 29, 2005 Compensation: $100/day, food, gas, parking/camping fees Washington Water Trails Association (WWTA) is seeking a sea kayaker with at least two years of paddling and trip leading experience to be the primary educator for the Sound Education and Action (SEA) Kayaker Program. The SEA Kayaker Program was developed with the support of REI and the Washington Foundation for the Environment to provide information on Leave No Trace principles and ethics to paddlers at rest stops and campsite locations throughout the Cascadia Marine Trail in Puget Sound. The educator will paddle with a team of one ore more WWTA staff and/or volunteers. Before the summer season begins, the educator will need to become certified as a Leave No Trace trainer either on their own or through one of the WWTA courses. Responsibilities include: -Coordinating overnight trips (Friday-Monday) for 12 weeks from June-August -Public outreach -Documentation of outreach -Planning and cooking meals while in the field -Ensuring safety of volunteers while in the field -Possible office or campsite work, dependent on weather Qualifications: -Minimum 2 years kayaking experience -Outdoor/environmental education experience -Water safety and rescue training -Good interpersonal skills -First Aid Training or Wilderness First Responder certification preferred Washington Water Trails Association works to counteract the loss of natural shorelines with the creation of water trails. A water trail is not a limited three-foot wide pedestrian path, but a flowing, liquid support that links people in non-motorized boats, primarily kayaks, to shoreline campsites throughout Washington State. Since 1993, WWTA has championed public shoreline access through the Cascadia Marine Trail in Puget Sound, the Lakes-To-Locks Water Trail in urban King County, the Willapa Bay Water Trail in Southwest Washington, and the newly opened Lower Columbia River Water Trail along the Columbia River. WWTA supports Leave No Trace promotes environmentally sensitive boating practices to ensure that shorelines along these trails will last for generations. I have been since-1994 river guide with trip leading experience for the last 9 years, Nepal, Turkey and Commercial guiding experience Trips. Nepal and India.
